My goal for 2009 is to only spend $40 per week at the grocery store and to use that extra savings to grow our emergency fund to six months worth of living expenses.
For 5 weeks I spent $198.74 versus a budget of $200. Success!!
So far we have 21% of our goal of 6 months of living expenses. Now we didn’t get all 21% this month, I just don’t have a before number. Next month I will. I think we could be a little more aggressive cutting back in other areas. We’ll see how future months go.
That’s my progress. How are you doing with your goals?

Randalls is doing a program similar to Kroger where you can load P&G coupons directly onto your club card. To do this go HERE to register. You’ll need to enter your Randalls card number.
Then you can choose the coupons you want loaded onto your card. I found it easiest to just select all the coupons.
I believe when you swipe your card, if you purchased a product that the ecoupon qualifies for, it automatically comes off. I do not think these coupons double BUT I do believe you can stack these will other manufacturer coupons. And remember, Randalls will double those.
If you have any experience with using eCoupons, please post a comment so we all can learn how to maximize savings!
I don’t see anything really outstanding at Randalls this week. And no Sun Harvest post because nothing really looked good there either. I guess they are all recovering for Super Bowl week. It’s weeks like these that make me glad I have stockpiles. Here is what stood out to me:
Green Grapes – $.88/lb
Peaches or Nectarines – $1/lb
Baby Carrots – $1/1lb bag
Fuji Apples – $1/lb
Fritos & Cheetos (8-10oz) – $1
Pop Tarts – $1
-Use $1/2 Kellogg’s (RP 1/18 )
Final Price = $.50 each
Kraft Cheese (8-12oz) – $1.99
93% Lean Ground Beef – $2.99/lb
Look what I found on SlickDeals today: Join the Napoleon Perdis Club HERE and receive a limited edition Protégé Lip Gloss (valued at $25) FREE! Hurry, only valid while supplies last. It looks like they will mail you a voucher and you redeem it at a Naploleon concept store.
Originally we thought it could be redeemed at Ulta. It cannot. See the email from the Marketing Coordinator in the comments. I guess when I get my voucher(s), I will be giving them away to some Californians.
Go HERE to find a Napoleon Perdis concept store.
Just in case you don’t already have enough magazines, I found another one! You can get a subscription of Body + Soul HERE.
This week’s Tuesday Tip is all about YouData. YouData is a site that pays you to watch advertisements on their site.
What you need to signup:
1. A PayPal Account – You’ll need this so YouData can automatically transfer your money into your account.
2. A Cell Phone Number – They will send you an authorization number via text. They will not send you any other text messages. They just need this to verify that you are a real person and to prevent you from setting up multiple accounts.
3. An Email Account – This is so they can contact you with your account information and also send you confirmation of your deposits.
Once you have an account, you’ll want to login and fill out your MeFile. This is information about your family, exercise habits, shopping preferences, etc. It doesn’t take long to do. Then they match ads to your interests.
When you are finished, you are ready to view ads. You you go to your ad reader, and load the ads. Little banner ads will appear in the reader. You get money for looking at those banner ads. Then if you click to the sponsors websites you get more money. And there’s a very gratifying cha-ching sound every time you click.
I usually look at my ads on Friday morning. Then, every Friday afternoon, YouData deposits your balance into your PayPal account. Then they send you an email letting you know it’s done. Then you go back the next week and do it again. The whole process of viewing as takes less than two minutes.
Now, you are not going to make a fortune doing YouData. The first few weeks I made about $4-5 each week. But once you see the ads you qualify for there are fewer new ones. Now, I generally get about $.60/week. But considering it takes less than two minutes, I think that’s not bad. Especially since occasionally I’ll find a new website I like. And $.60 over a year ads up to lots of gallons of milk!
Okay, now you’re ready. Go HERE and sign up!
