About

Hi there! I’m so glad you found my blog. People always have lots of questions about couponing and how I get so much stuff for free. I decided to start this blog to help consolidate all the information I find into one place that’s easy to read so you novices can make this work for you!

I’ve been couponing since June of 2008. My husband and I were planning a big vacation and were trying to save as much extra money for the trip as possible. I had cut expenses in every area but groceries. I didn’t think I purchased extravagantly so I didn’t think it would be possible to cut in this area. I decided to try couponing to see if that would help.  I subscribed to the Sunday paper for 13 weeks and kept a log to see if the coupon savings paid for the newspaper. They did in 3 weeks.

Then I discovered a wealth of websites and blogs dedicated to helping people maximize their coupons. Those sites helped me match coupons to sales so I didn’t have to do much work on my own. The problem is there are 4-6 sites I regularly read. For novices, this is all a little daunting. I decided to consolidate the best from those sites into one site for beginners. I’m going to try to make it easy for you!

Since I mastered the art of couponing and built up massive stockpiles, I need a new challenge. So for 2009, I am only going to spend $40/week at the grocery store. This will include all food, toiletries, household goods and (much to my husband’s dismay) beer. The only thing excluded from this is dog food. I have to exclude this because one of our dogs has a sensitive tummy and can only eat one kind of dog food that is fairly expensive. I can’t just buy whatever is on sale. The other rule is that the money rolls. If I spend $36 one week, I get $44 the next week. If I spend $45 one week, I get $35 the next week. I’ll post if I succeeded or failed in 4 week intervals.

So $40/week on everything but dog food. That’s the challege. I’ll be posting menus of things I prepare as well as how well I fare at the grocery store.

Well, that’s it about the blog. Now you want to know about me. I’m 29 and married with 2 dogs. No kids yet. I work full time as an Accountant. You might think that money saving is in my nature due to my occupation, but let me tell you. I love spending money like everyone else! Couponing and finding good deals, help me to be able to afford things I refuse to scrimp on, like getting my hair done or going on nice vacations.

I hope you enjoy the blog and find it useful.

Happy Saving!!
